Safety tips

While there are many fresh local markets in Port Moresby, most of them can be considered “dangerous” for tourists, expats and even local people.

These two markets are also very busy so it is recommended to go there with a security escort or a group of people who know Port Moresby well.

Koki Fish Market is not a 100% safe place, so if you are not local please ensure that you go there with reliable security or avoid the busy time.

Please don’t bring important things with you, make sure that you have a small amount of cash in small denominations, always be aware of anything suspicious, and take care of your belongings!

Please don’t forget to bring your eco bags to carry your shopping!
